22 Feb MEN NEED LOVE TOO: 6 THINGS A MAN NEEDS TO HEAR FROM HIS WIFE
By: Lewis Jay Jarvis
“You Look Handsome.” It’s always been said a good husband should always remind his wife how beautiful he thinks she is, in part because he doesn’t want another man to compliment her more than he does. Yet, it’s also a great feeling for us to be told we’re handsome by our wife. Just the word ‘handsome’ holds a different meaning than any other compliment and seems to hit us a little differently. For those who put an effort into our appearance, it’s appreciated when our efforts are noticed.
“I’m Proud and I Support You.” Men see their self-worth differently than women do. Men strive towards goals and accomplishments whether it’s our job or an entrepreneur venture we’ve chosen to start. Much of our confidence depends on how well were doing while accomplishing these goals. Having the support of our wife, who’s believing were doing a good job both personally and professionally, is reassuring in ways many other statements could ever be. Knowing we have your un-dying support, allows us to feel we have a safety net when things get rough.
“I Love Your Body!” Men get down on themselves about their bodies too. We all want to have better abs or a more defined chest. We want to feel like we can protect you and ourselves. We want to feel strong. We want to feel like men. So when we do put in the effort to start eating better and working out, we’re hoping it gets noticed. Not just by anyone — but by you our wife. Telling us you can see an improvement (no matter how small) from our efforts, it will reinforce us and encourage us to continue along this path.
“I Trust You.” With all the negativity floating around in the world today, it’s much easier to keep ourselves guarded and not fully trust someone, even our wives sometimes. The truth is, we need to know that you trust us. Trusting us to lead you, but most important trusting us when we’re trying to figure things out ourselves.
“Thank You.” Whether it’s something small like him picking up your favorite movie, or getting your coffee in the morning — these two small words go a long way. Kindness should never be given to someone for the sake of a return, but appreciation should always be expressed when someone puts in effort.
“I Appreciate You.” This goes a step beyond “thank you.” Appreciating your husband for the person he is on a different level than appreciating the things he does for you. As men who work to keep you happy, we become the best versions of ourselves, so were better for our families and others as well.
